New York Carats
The New York Carats enjoys the unique status as one of the driving
forces that ultimately led to the founding of CARATS, Inc., in 1975. In the late 1950s, a group of African American women seeking to triumph over the then-existing Jim Crow laws founded the PIVOTS, an organization conceived to establish a social network that would provide a platform for women to interact with other women around the United States of similar ethnicity, interest, experience, and culture. In 1975, the PIVOTS needed reorganization, and as a result, CARATS Inc emerged. The CARATS, Inc., was formed with seven charter chapters, and New York was one of them.
The New York chapter hosted 4 conclaves, starting from 1977 to 2008.
We are embarking on our 5th conclave for 2023, and look forward
to seeing everyone. Join us, as we continue to
embrace dimensional friendships!!!
